Uploading a picture to Instagram

To upload a picture to Instagram, follow these steps:

1.       On your web browser, navigate to instagram.com.

2.       If you are not logged into your account, login with your username and password.

3.       On the Instagram home page, click Create on the left-hand side of the screen.

4.       Click and hold the photo you wish to upload and drag it to the “Create new post” box.

Release the photo.

5.       Check if your photo displays the way you want it to.

a.       If the photo does not display properly, use the available tools to adjust the photo.

i.      To crop the photo, click Select crop and choose the option you prefer.

ii.      To change the size of the photo, click Select zoom and choose the size you prefer.

b.       Once the photo displays properly, click Next.

6.       Check if you would like to use a filter or make adjustments.

a.       If you would like to adjust the filter, click Filters and select the filter you prefer.

b.       If you would like to make further adjustments to the photo, click Adjustments.

Using the sliders that now display, make any adjustments you prefer to the brightness,

contrast, fade, saturation, temperature, and vignette of your photo.

c.       Click Next.

7.       Make any final additions you desire.

a.       To tag a friend, click on the photo. Then, in the search box that displays, begin to type

in your friend’s name.

When you recognize your friend’s name and profile picture from the options that appear,

click on that option.

b.       To add a caption, click in the text field with the placeholder text “Write a caption…”

Then, type your caption.

c.       To add a location, click in the text field with the placeholder text “Add location.”

Begin to type in the name of the location you wish to add. When the correct location

option displays, click that option.

d.       If you wish to make your post more accessible to the visually impaired, click the Accessibility

menu.

To add alt text to your photo, click in the text field with the placeholder text “Write alt text…”

Next, type in your alt text.

e.       To enable any advanced settings, click the Advanced settings menu.

i.      To hide like and view counts on your post, click the first option.

  ii.      To turn off commenting, click the second option.

8.       Click Share.
